Meet Sally, Principal and Director of Smarter Happier Kids
Sally has always been a passionate learner about how children learn. All children have strengths and challenges and all have a different way of learning. For those children who do learn differently from mainstream, it is critical we adopt a strength-based approach and build on their strengths and passions for further learning. Sally has found over the years, in a multitude of different teaching and learning environments, that a multi-sensory and musical approach is highly effective for quality engagement. This style of teaching and learning is based on connecting through The Heart, The Hands and The Head-the whole child.
This holistic approach, whereby engaging and educating the ‘whole’ child, is proving to be increasingly effective with both neuro-typical and atypical children.
Using Early Intervention Therapeutic practices, Sally’s approach is based on strengths and needs of the individual child to promote functional independence and social participation. Sally successfully uses music in her practice to engage the learner in a fun and creative way. Through studies in neuro-science, music is proven to help improve cognitive function, social communication skills, motor skills, emotional development and overall quality of life. Sally works alongside parents/carers and other therapists in the planning and implementation of a program to assist in reaching their child’s goals, using early childhood best practice and evidence based interventions.
